Synopsis

Brčko, in the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina, floats like a isle of diversity, neutral and autonomous, between the entities of a divided post-war country. Twenty years after the war that tore the land apart, Bosniaks, Croats and Serbs all live there in a pragmatic peace. It's one of the few places in the country where children get to grow up and go to school together.

Dejan, Amina, Boris, Mirza and Milan, born during or right after the conflict, are today growing up into adults. We follow them in their day to day life, their projects and their hopes.

Amina finds empowerment in dance and writing. Boris, Mirza and Milan hang around in betting shops or in the park with some beer and hope to find a job, here or elsewhere. Dejan is a graffiti artist who intends to use urban art to fight against vandalism and nationalist messages.

They each give their point of view, creating together the portrait of a post-war generation, letting us comprehend their relationship to both past and present. They answer and at times contradict each other, sensibly addressing an issue that is central in Bosnia-Herzegovina : in a country where it is impossible to give past a common meaning, how could the post-war generation built a common future?

Synopsis fr
