Synopsis

The Lebanese war has been over ten years.
Yet, despite the time, despite the peace, the effects are still profound.
After spending several years in Lebanon, the director wants to show physical injuries,
psychological, emotional, this civil war that lasted seventeen years.
Through the testimonies of five people, relatives or strangers,
from various community settings, she wants to show how these men and women "ordinary" are, after the war,
to learn to live together, to live simply in a country in crisis or peace remains fragile.

Director's biography

Letter to our cousins ​​is the first documentary film Ledan Perrine.
Since 1993, the French journalist focuses on the implications of ethnic conflict and community
it was covered in several countries (Czechoslovakia, South Africa, former Yugoslavia, Lebanon)
for different media (Telerama, TF1, France Inter, France Info, Radio Canada,...).
She hopes to show the evolution of different geo-political regions of the world and the difficulty of inter-communal coexistence.
Lebanon is where she lived for three years, it has been most affected by the fragility of peace.
After having been a freelance correspondent, she decided to realize and co-produce a documentary witness on this company in a crisis of identity.
After filming ended in April 1999, his film will be supported by co-producers from Belgium,
Workshop and the GSARA young filmmakers.
Meanwhile, it will be returned in the former Yugoslavia to do a report for Doctors of the World
on helping children in schools and Bosnian, back in France,  shoot in parallel to production of independent film from the south.

Synopsis fr La guerre du liban est finie depuis dix ans.
pourtant, malgre le temps, malgre la paix, les sequelles sont toujours profondes.
apres avoir passe plusieurs annees au liban, la realisatrice a souhaite montrer les blessures physiques,
psychologies, affectives de cette guerre civile qui a dure dix-sept ans.
a travers les temoignages de cinq personnages, proches ou inconnus,
issus de milieux communautaires differents, elle veut montrer comment ces hommes et ces femmes "ordinaires" font, apres la guerre,
pour reapprendre a vivre ensemble, a vivre tout simplement dans un pays en crise ou la paix demeure fragile.

depuis 1993, cette journaliste francaise s'interesse aux consequences des conflits ethniques ou communautaires
qu'elle a couvert dans plusieurs pays (tchecoslovaquie, afrique du sud, ex-yougoslavie, liban)
pour differents medias (telerama, tf1, france inter, france info, radio canada,...).
elle souhaite ainsi montrer l'evolution geo-politique de differentes regions du monde et la difficulte de la coexistence inter-communautaire.
c'est au liban ou elle a vecu trois ans, qu'elle a ete le plus touchee par la fragilite de la paix.
apres avoir ete correspondante free-lance, elle decide de realiser et co-produire un documentaire temoin sur cette societe en pleine crise d'identite.
une fois le tournage fini en avril 1999, son film beneficiera du soutien de co-producteurs belges,
le gsara et l'atelier jeunes cineastes.
entre-temps, elle sera retournee en ex-yougoslavie pour realiser un reportage pour medecins du monde
sur l'aide apportee aux enfants dans les ecoles bosniaques et, de retour en france,
se tourne parallelement vers la production
de cinematographies independantes originaires du sud.
